Fiberglass reinforced polyester can be processed in many ways, of which hand-layup is used most frequently. The technique works as follows:
Mats or tissues are manually impregnated with resin on an open mold. The characteristics of the mats and resin used define the properties of the final product. Difference in thickness is achieved by using more or fewer glass mats or tissues. Air is driven out of the product using air removal rollers, since lesser air makes for a stronger product.
Our specialists mainly apply this technique to products that are hard to mould or for the production of smaller quantities.
